    3/15/19

    Dear River Valley Parents,

We don't quite have spring fever but warmer weather has arrived and spring break is only a week away.  I hope you are enjoying the terrific weather.  Keep your child reading over break.  If we reach 1 million collective minutes of reading as a school, we'll celebrate in a PIG way. Ask your child what Officer York and Mr. U. have promised to do if we meet our goal.  Please see the following important notes.

    • THANK YOU for the tremendous support of our Subway lunch.  It was great seeing so many families enjoying lunch with their kids.  River Valley was able to earn over $350 from our Subway day and we had a lot of fun in the process.  We will definitely do it again in the future.

    • SPELLATHON SILLY STRING WAR- Thursday, March 21 at 10:15 am.  This is for all students who earned $25 or more in pledges for our Spellathon fundraiser.  Our kids look forward to this favorite activity, so please make sure your student is at school  on Thursday if they earned this award level.

    • YEARBOOKSThis is the last week to get your yearbook order in at the great price of only $13!  March 21st is the deadline.  The price jumps to $15 for any orders received after Spring Break....and we cannot guarantee they will be filled.  So, fill out those order forms and send them in!  Extra forms are available in the front office.

    • PTA Meeting Tuesday, March 19, 7 pm in the RVE Library.  Please come and get involved!  The meetings are quick (under an hour), but  so important to the success of our school.  If you've ever thought about ways to help your child or River Valley, this is a great way to do it.  This month we have a special guest speaker, Travis Clizbe, a senior at Meridian Medical Arts Charter High School (MMACHS) who has been researching and will be presenting his findings on the effects of smartphone "screen time" usage.  This is part of his senior project.  We will also be discussing our upcoming Fun Fair.

    • Lost & Found- Missing a coat?  Jacket?  Lunchbox?  Chances are, it's in our Lost & Found, which is bursting at the seams!  Ms. Melissa will be putting out items along our gymnasium wall next week.  Please take some time to look through and claim any items that belong to you.  Parents are welcome to come take a look!  Also- this is the time of year when our Lost & Found seems to grow bigger each day.  Help us out by labeling your student's jackets, so lost ones can be returned. We know how expensive replacing lost jackets can get...so do us both favor, and make sure your name is inside!

    • JUMP ROPE CLUB- We apologize for the cancellations this week, but we are back on track for next Tuesday, March 19 at 8:30 am!

    • Kindergarten registration is going on now!  Please call the school for information on getting your kindergartner signed up!  Our full-day Tuition Kindergarten program is filling up fast, so don't delay in letting us know you're interested!  Call our secretary, Alison Baumgartner, at 208-350-4295 for more information.

    • Internet Safety PresentationOur kids sometimes seem one step ahead of us with their on-line activity.  Officer York will provide some tips to help us keep our kids safe on the internet.  Please join us at 6pm on April 11 at River Valley for his presentation.
