Degrees and Certifications:
M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction Certified in Secondary Social Studies and English Language Arts
Mrs. Leslie Younger
Hello! My name is Leslie Younger and this is my eighth year at Mt. View High School, and my 15th year (ack, I'm old!) of teaching. Previously, I taught English at Nampa High School for 6 years and then spent one year teaching 6th grade English Language Arts at Vallivue Middle in Caldwell. The high school level is where I am truly happy!
I grew up in Portland, Oregon, and it continues to hold a very special place in my heart. I attended the University of Oregon for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. GO DUCKS! I majored in History with a minor in Spanish and English. I pursued my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. English is a such a diverse content area which allows students many options to explore and connect.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, and I am so lucky to help guide students to find success in high school and in life. I have very high expectations of all of my students and expect them to critically think on a daily basis. In today's world, strong reading, writing, and communication skills are a must, therefore those are the focus of my class.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, my daughters, and our dog, Atticus. I love to hang out with friends, watch college football and Netflix, read, and travel.
I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students this year as well as guiding them towards success in the future!
