Degrees and Certifications:
Dustin D. Barrett
I am an Idaho native who grew up in the Treasure Valley, primarily in the Nampa area. I graduated from Nampa High School when it was the only high school in the town of Nampa and the population of Nampa was around 25,000 (Meridian had a population of around 7000 at the time). After graduation from Nampa High School I enrolled in College down the street at Northwest Nazarene College (which is now Northwest Nazarene University). I graduated from Northwest Nazarene College with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Science and moved to the Oregon coast to work for a year or so. I returned to Idaho after this short stint in Oregon and enrolled in a Master's Degree Program at Boise State University to achieve state certification which would enable me to teach science. After achieving certification through the state I began teaching science to alternative high school students in Kuna and middle school students at Lake Hazel Middle School while completing my Master of Arts Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction at BSU. After nine years of teaching science at Lake Hazel Middle School and three years of teaching science to alternative high school students in Kuna I decided it was time for another challenge and earned an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. This enabled me to transition into school administration and I took my first Assistant Principal position at Lowell Scott Middle School. I worked at Lowell Scott Middle school for one year and relocated to Eagle High School where I spent the next four years working as an Assistant Principal. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to serve as Principal at Meridian Academy High School starting the 2011-2012 school year and continue in that role at present. Working with the students at Meridian Academy is a rewarding career and provides me the opportunity to work with the best families, students and staff in the West Ada School District. My wife Kori also works for the West Ada School District and we have three children - Tamiara, Kaia, and Dustin.
