Students may check out 4 books at a time for 4 weeks at a time. While the library does not charge daily late fines, once a book is 5 days past due, we mark the book as lost and charge the student for the book. If the student returns the book, we wipe the charge clean. If not, the charge stands. Students who damage a book will be responsible for the replacement cost of the book. Once a student has an outstanding fine, s/he/they will not be able to check out any more library books until the fine has been dealt with, or the book has been returned.
Students may check textbooks and classroom novels for specific classes. Students are responsible for returning those resources upon completion of the unit or class. If students do not return the item(s), we mark the book as lost and charge the student for the book. If the student returns the book, we wipe the charge clean. If not, the charge stands. Once a student has been charged for a textbook or classroom novel, the bookkeeper will not allow students to pay for sports, school dance tickets, parking permits, etc. until the book has been returned or paid for.
The EHS library centers around students. It is our goal to provide a space that is inviting, comfortable, safe, and relaxed. We are open before school, during lunch, and after school so that students can get work done, print, study, read, check out books, play board games, check out Wii controllers and games, and/or hang out with friends. In addition to library services, students can check out laptop charging cords (24-hour checkout), check out overnight textbooks, and get technical support.
