Ms. Kristin Swanson
Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!
Hello and welcome to Ms. Swanson's webpage. I am excited to start my sixth year at Lowell Scott. LSMS has been a wonderful school and I look forward to working with your amazing students over the course of the year. This year I will be teaching:
* English 8
* Honors English 8
* Personal Finance and Careers
I am a true Idaho girl through and through...I was born and raised in the Treasure Valley. I graduated from Meridian High (go Warriors) in 2002. After graduation, I attended Boise State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Teaching (grade 6-12) in 2007. In the fall of 2007, I started my teaching career at West Middle School in Nampa. During my seven years at WMS, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Language Arts, Co-taught SPED Language Arts, Reading Strategies, and 8th grade Honors English. In 2009, I went back to Boise State and graduated with my Master of Arts in Literacy Education (grades K-12) in 2011. In addition to my teaching schedule, I also coach for Lowell Scott: volleyball (7th grade A team) and basketball (8th grade girls B team and 7th grade girls B team).
I have two beautiful daughters who keep me on my toes with their busy volleyball schedules and other activities. Katelynn (12) is in 7th grade at LSMS and Gracie (10) is in 5th grade at Pioneer School of the Arts. We also have two kittens, Huckleberry and Malificient.
In our spare time, we like to explore the mountains and lakes around the state. Kayaking has become a new favorite for the entire family, and we spent much of the summer on Lake Cascade. We are also a family of hardcore Boise State football and basketball fans! We go to as many games as possible...even the away games.
I do believe in a strong home-school connection, so I welcome any communication on your student's progress or assignments. I will respond to email, calls, or notes as quickly as possible. I update the weekly agenda by Monday afternoon of each week. This will give parents and students a quick glance of our intended schedule for the week and any upcoming due dates. I also post as many assignments as possible to my website.
