I am so excited to be starting my fourth year as the school counselor at Discovery. I truly believe that we have the best students and staff at Discovery and I count it as a great privilege to work with them! I am also the Behavior Response to Intervention (BRtI) lead, Student Council lead, EL Support lead, and the 504 case manager. I have my Master's from Northwest Nazarene University in School Counseling and my Bachelor's in Psychology from Dordt College. I have been working with the West Ada School District since 2012 and have a background in Behavior Intervention.
Throughout the school year I teach classroom lessons on topics such as personal safety, understanding self and others, problem solving, career exploration, Toolbox (our school socio-emotional curriculum) and more. I also run small groups on topics such as changing families, grief and loss, anger management, and friendship skills. I meet with students one-on-one on a short term basis and can provide referrals to community counselors upon request. I am also the liaison for homeless/low income services within the school. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you feel that any of these services would be helpful for your child.
In my free time, I love to spend time with my wife and two daughters. I love to be active by riding my bike, camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors. I also enjoy reading, running, sports, and movies.
