Mrs. Amy Gamez

Hi!  My name is Amy Gamez and I am thrilled to be your students school counselor.   Elementary School Counseling is my DREAM JOB and I consider it a privilege to get to work with your children everyday.  I have been a credentialed school counselor since 2000 and have worked in every grade level, including university. I was recently recognized by the Idaho, Department of Education as a Master Educator in School Counseling and am the proud recipient of the 2019 West Ada School District, Elementary School Counselor of the Year Award.

River Valley kids are special!  They are kind, caring, energetic student citizens that are eager to learn.  Life with these little humans is unpredictable, hilarious, wonderful and simply memorable. Each day brings about it's own new and unique challenges. These fearless crusaders often come with an array of very real social-emotional challenges. My students are learning valuable life skills.  Such as; learming to be the boss of their anxiety and how to regulate their very big and real emotions. RV students learn to view their differences as strengths and understand that they have the tools within themselves to calm down and become great problem solvers.

The truth is, none of us were born knowing how to control big emotions and children need time and practice to master these skills. But, that's where I come in! As an elementary school counselor, I am here to help nurture their ability to manage their emotional responses in healthy, adaptive and creative ways, meeting each child's individual and unique needs.  When I am not at my DREAM JOB, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and the absolute loves of my life, my husband and three amazing children. I am excited to be here and look forward to a great year with your children.
