Mrs. Leininger

Thank you for taking the time to visit my homepage. My name is Karina Leininger, and I look forward to being your child's teacher this year. The 2020-2021 school year will be my fifth year teaching fifth grade at Prospect Elementary. I absolutely love teaching fifth grade!  Previously, I was an elementary school librarian at a K-5 school. I believe in welcoming all learners into a safe, engaging, and collaborative classroom environment. I am passionate about helping all of my students find books that will spark a love for reading, incorporating technology to enhance learning and collaboration opportunities in the classroom, and helping students become confident and independent learners in preparation for middle school success. In my classroom, students take ownership of their learning by taking responsibility for their own learning and grades. I look forward to getting to know your child and working with you to ensure your child's academic, social, and emotional success.

This year we will be using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft OneNote Class Notebook to communicate, share work and lessons, and house classroom materials to enhance learning and ensure access to content whether students are working in the classroom or at home.  I am excited to embark on this new journey in education, combining virtual and in-class learning, and building our classroom community in both spaces!

A little bit about me and my little family... my husband and I have one incredible, talented, and hardworking daughter who will be a senior this year.  We have the sweetest old dog, Guy; an onery cockatiel, Lily, aka The Beast; and an aquatic frog, Tina.  During my time off I enjoy spending time with family and good friends, kayaking, leisurely hikes, camping, mountain day trips, gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and reading.
