    LHMS Athletics

    **All Dates are Tentative and Subject to Change without Notice**

    To participate in athletics, all athletes are required to be insured (or sign a waiver), purchase an activity card ($22.26 – with tax), and pay the District Participation fee ($90) prior to the beginning of the sport. All fees must be paid before uniforms will be checked out to athletes.  The Activity Card is a onetime purchase.  The participation fee needs to be paid for the first 2 sports of the school year your athlete participates in, the 3rd or 4th sport your athlete participates in will have no participation fee.  If you have any questions or concerns with payments, please contact Jared Levanger (levanger.jared@westada.org).   All information will also be posted on the LHMS school website.  Participation forms as well as concussion information can be downloaded from the website as well.

    Fall Sports

    7th and 8th grade Football: August 12 – October 15

    • Sign-ups were conducted in May. If your student missed the sign-ups, they will be able to sign up at the beginning of the season.  Have your student come to the first practice and Coach Dupree will have the registration information.  Practice begins August 12 – check website for times. There will be a mandatory parent/player meeting August 20th at 5:00 p.m. The District participation fee and payment for an activity card is due by August 21st.  For further information and contact information, please refer to the LHMS sports website.

    6th, 7th, 8th grade Cross-Country:  August 19 – October 3

    • Practice begins August 19 – check website for times. Sign-ups will happen on the first day of practice.  Contact Coach Presnell (James@westada.org) with questions.  There will be a mandatory parent/player meeting August 20th at 5:00 p.m. The District participation fee and payment for an activity card is due by August 21st.  For further information and contact information, please refer to the LHMS sports website.

    7th, 8th grade Volleyball: August 12 – October 10

    • Sign-ups were conducted in May. If your student missed the sign-ups, they will be able to sign up at the beginning of the season.  Information for registration for volleyball will be on the Lake Hazel Middle School volleyball website. Practices will begin August 12 from 3:00 – 5:00 (please arrive early on Monday August 12). There will be a mandatory parent/player meeting August 20th at 5:00 p.m. The District participation fee and payment for an activity card is due by August 21st.  For further information and contact information, please refer to the LHMS sports website. 

    7th and 8th grade Cheerleading:  August 12 – March 4

    • Sign-ups occurred in May. If your student missed sign up, they will be able to sign up at the beginning of the season, contact Marie Martin (Martin.Marie@westada.org) for information. Practice begins August 12 – check the website for times.     Winter Sports

    8th grade Girls Basketball:  October 14 – December 18

    • Sign-ups will occur during the end of September and beginning of October and all paperwork will be due by October 11. Practice will begin October 14.  Coaches will form one “A” and one “B” team.  All other athletes will be on a “C” team if necessary.  The District participation fee and payment for an activity card can be paid starting the first week of October and is due prior to the first practice on October 14.  There will be a mandatory parent/player meeting October 21 after practice.  For further information and contact information, please refer to the LHMS sports website.

     6th, 7th, 8th grade Wrestling:  October 17 – December 14

    • Sign-ups will occur in the first part of October and all paperwork will be due by October 15.     8th Boys Basketball:  January 6 – March 4

    • Sign-ups will occur during the 1st part of December and all paperwork will be due by December 20. Tryouts/Practice will begin January 6.  Coaches will form one “A” and one “B” team.  All other athletes will be on a “C” team.  There will be a mandatory parent/player meeting January 7 after practice.  The District participation fee and payment for an activity card is due by January 6 (District participation fee waived if two sports have previously been paid).  For further information and contact information, please refer to the LHMS sports website.

     

    Spring Sports

    If your child would like to participate in both 7th grade basketball and either track or tennis, they can do that.  They will participate in basketball until the end of that season, then join either track or tennis immediately after.  They will be able to participate in meets and matches right away. 

              The District Participation Fee for 7th grade basketball is $60.  If your athlete is going to continue to track or tennis, there would just be an extra $30 fee (making the total of $90 to participate in both sports).  If basketball is the 3rd sport your athlete is participating in during the school year, there will be no fee.  The participation fee for track and tennis is $90.

    7th Boys Basketball:  March 3 – April 14

    • Sign-ups will occur in the middle of February and all paperwork will be due by March 1st. Tryouts/Practice will begin March 3.  There will be a mandatory parent/player meeting March 9 after practice.  Coaches will form one “A” team and the other athletes will be divided into equal teams.  The District participation fee and payment for an activity card is due by March 3 (District participation fee waived if two sports have previously been paid).  For further information and contact information, please refer to the LHMS sports website.

    7th Girls Basketball:  March 3 – April 14

    6th, 7th, 8th Tennis:  March 16 (may change to March 30) – May 12
