My name is Kristi Burke and I am new to 6th grade this year! I grew up in Northern California and stayed there until 2001 when I moved to Idaho with my husband, Mike and twin boys, Tyler and Ryan. I enjoy taking photos, watching Dallas Cowboy football and spending time with friends and family. I have taught in the West Ada District for almost 10 years and most of that time has been spent teaching 5th graders and preparing them for Middle School. I am SO excited to be a part of this next step in their education. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a minor in Early Childhood Education and a M.A Degree in Elementary Education K-8. I love the learning process and sharing “ah ha” moments with your kids. I enjoy watching their growth all year and making sure they always feel welcome, safe and successful. I am looking forward to a great year!

I am excited to starting my 18th year of teaching.  This is my13th school year here at LSMS!  I taught for 3 years in California beginning in 2001 before coming to Idaho.  I am originally from Minnesota.  I grew up in Brainerd, Minnesota.  I am a HUGE Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.  I began my college career at the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, ND) and shortly after transferred to Mayville State University (Mayville, ND) where I completed my degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in math.  In 2011 I completed my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Texas at Arlington.

When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband, son (Isiac) and our new Bulldog puppy (Trigg).  Isiac is a senior at Centennial this year.  I love playing softball, bowling, mountain biking, running, and watching Twins and Vikings games.

Welcome!

I’m Mrs. Son, and I am so excited to have you in my class this year! I have been a 6th grade teacher in the West Ada School District since 1999. I love working with sixth-graders and helping them learn how to be responsible, respectful and productive young people.

After I spend my days with my awesome sixth-graders I go home to my husband, our daughter, and our dogs.  I love movies, reading, biking, and baking! I love teaching sixth grade, and I am thrilled to get to know you this year!

Welcome to 6th Grade!

An average week consists of Word Work, reading, focused writing assignments, occasional outbursts of song and dance, as well as practice of presentation and listening skills.  Students will have many opportunities to research and practice the skills that make good readers and writers.
