Mrs. Lori Young
I am a lifelong learner who desires to teach students to enjoy education and in so doing become lifelong learners as well.
I am excited to be your child's case manager and special education teacher this year. I strongly believe that all children can learn when they have the opportunity to use their natural gifts. They learn through a variety of learning styles and multiple intelligences. Therefore, given the right environment and tools, every child can succeed.
I have been in education for 21 years. My first 12.5 years were in early education in which I was an owner and operator of a daycare and preschool. After closing my business I began working for the West Ada School District as a substitute teacher. Over the last 8.5 years I have worked as a paraprofessional and as a teacher in the following capacities: summer school, intervention (before, during, and after school), substitute, and special education. I gained my B.S.ed from the University of Phoenix and my special education endorsement through ABCTE.
I am a native Idahoan and have lived my entire life in the Gem and Ada counties. My husband and I have been married for 36 years. We have 5 children, 5 grandchildren, 1 dog, 2 cats, and a turtle.
