Common Policy Regarding Due Dates and Deadlines

Assignments are expected to be completed and turned in on time because . . .

 The completion of all assignments is a critical component of student learning.

 Students who complete assignments are prepared to maximize their learning.

With this premise, the staff at LHMS has agreed to adhere to these guidelines:

Due Date: The date that the assignment will be accepted for full credit and without consequence. Students who do not turn in work on the due date, will be assigned to our Ketchup Club lunch intervention time and will lose the opportunity for full credit on the assignment. Any assignment turned in after the due date will receive a 30% reduction.

Unit Deadline: The last date that the assignment will be accepted with only a 30% reduction. This date aligns with the last day of the instructional unit. These dates will be clearly defined by the teacher. Any assignment turned in after the Unit Deadline will receive a 50% reduction.

Cut-Off Date: The last date that an assignment can be turned in for credit. Cut-Off dates are two-weeks after the end of the instructional unit. Teachers will make these cut-off dates clear to students. Any assignment turned in after the Cut-Off Date will receive a zero.

MACO (Missing After Cut-Off): The MACO tag will be used in teacher’s gradebooks to indicate assignments that are missing, and that the cut-off date for the assignment has passed and that the assignment will be marked in the gradebook as a zero.

    Assignments Are Accepted Late

Due dates, Unit Deadlines, and Cut-Off dates will be clearly defined by the teacher.

 Late work will be accepted for a reduced credit after the Due Date. Students will receive a maximum of 70% when turned in after the Due Date.

 Late work will be accepted for a reduced credit after the Unit Deadline. Students will receive a maximum of 50% when turned in after the Unit Deadline.

 After the Cut-Off Date, late work that is turned in will be given a score of zero in the gradebook.

 Students with missing work in the gradebook will be assigned to Ketchup Club lunch intervention.

    **School days

##Students who are absent will be given 2 days per absence before any point reductions occur.

@@Students with accommodations for extended time will be given the agreed upon amount of time before point reductions occur.
