Degrees and Certifications:
I’ve always enjoyed learning! My educational career began as a high school English teacher, teaching grades 9-12 and serving on many curricula teams, which led to teaching our district’s first team taught cross-curricular class that integrated American Literature and U.S. History. After gaining classroom experience, I ventured into school counseling. I was a school counselor at both the elementary and secondary levels. After counseling, I teamed with four other educators and served four years as an advisor for our District’s Beginning Teacher Program, supporting elementary and secondary first year teachers. All these paths led to the most meaningful professional direction of all, Paramount Elementary!
My post-secondary education began at Lewis and Clark College with a foreign exchange program in Athens, Greece at the University of Athens. I finished my bachelor degree in English and an administrative degree from the University of Idaho and completed a counseling master’s degree at Northwest Nazarene University.
Family is extremely important to me. My husband and I have three wonderful adult sons and a wonderful daughter in-law. We all enjoy the outdoors, and we all love dogs! Between our households we have little to giant canines. Our pack includes a Boston terrier, Old English Bulldog, Golden Doodle, and a Newfoundland. Yes, it’s definitely a lot of lot of barking and a lot of mischief!
At Paramount Elementary we are committed to ensuring students, every day, enter our school doors to a nurturing and caring environment, where they and their parents/guardians realize they are important. We are also committed to ensuring high levels of learning for all students and are accountable to collaboration that impacts instructional practice and is measure by collecting and reporting meaningful student data. The efforts of our knowledgeable and dedicated staff combined with our students and the on-going support and care from our parents and guardians truly make Paramount Elementary a special place to be and a place where all students are STARS!
