Degrees and Certifications:
I grew up in Utah where I loved spending time with my grandmas – one who was a voracious reader and the other an adventurer. They, along with my wonderful parents and teachers, encouraged my love of learning. . . anything and everything! I feel so blessed to spend my days sharing the joy of learning with my students. I’ve taught (and dearly loved) several grades, but my current home is fifth grade. . . and it ROCKS! I love building a class community and helping students understand the importance of being a good citizen and a person of character.
After graduating from Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I began my teaching career at the same elementary school that my parents attended. . . and some of their teachers were still there! I took a break from teaching when my husband received a commission in the United States Navy. We were stationed in Washington, California, Sicily, and Maryland, and had the adventures of a lifetime. Our family was drawn to this area and we have been blessed to raise our family here for the past 11 years. My husband, Stuart, and I have 4 children and a neurotic dog. Our youngest graduates from high school this year, so we are soon-to-be empty nesters.
In addition to teaching, I love cooking/baking, traveling, playing games with my family, and reading about U.S. History. I’m a firm believer in learning something new each day and thinking positively, and I love being part of our Paramount family!
