Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science: Mathematics-Secondary Education, Boise State University, 2015
Hello! I began teaching at MHS during the 2015-2016 school year. This year I am teaching Math 2 and Math 3. I am also very happy to be a part of the MHS Ski and Snowboard Club!
Prior to becoming a teacher I spent over 11 years working in the log and timber construction industry. During that career I regularly used math to solve problems while building log homes, staircases, trusses, and other log and timber specialty items. I try to integrate engaging, real-world problems into my lessons as often as possible.
When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family. I enjoy spending my spare time outdoors; I love to run, hike, ride my bikes, camp, ski, and snowboard. I also spend a lot of time playing chess.
My personal philosophy regarding mathematics is this: I believe that every student can find success in math, and that the skills a student acquires while becoming successful with math can empower them to become successful outside of the classroom. I want my students to be able to make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. I want them to be able to construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. I believe that these skills will help your student find success both within an academic environment and in their daily lives.

I am sincerely looking forward to working with you and your student this year!
