Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!
Welcome to English 8. I am so excited to start another year at Sawtooth Middle School. SMS is a wonderful school and I look forward to working with your amazing students over the course of the year.
I was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and moved to Idaho when I was very young, so I consider Idaho my home. I was raised in Nampa and graduated from Nampa High School in 1995. After graduation, I attended the University of Idaho (go Vandals!) and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education in spring of 2000. That fall, I started my teaching career at Lake Hazel Middle School. While teaching at LHMS, I went back to school and received my Master of Education in Educational Leadership/Administration in 2005. I taught in Tennessee for two years, followed by eight years at Pathways Middle School. After Pathways, I worked at the West Ada District Office as the Secondary English Language Arts Academic Coach. I absolutely loved my job at the DSC. I got to work with so many talented educators that teach in the West Ada School District. That being said, I really missed working with students so I decided to come back to the classroom.
I have two very energetic children, Savanna (12) and Elias (7), three dogs, and a Russian Tuxedo tortoise (my son named her Shelly, lol). My children keep me quite busy with gymnastics, Scouts, and art classes. For fun we love to go to the “beach” in McCall, play games at home, watch movies, and ride our bikes!
For me, teaching is more than just a job, it is my passion. I love what I do and am so honored that you have trusted me to help guide your students as they discover who they are and learn about their world. I do believe in a strong home-school connection, so I welcome any communication on your student's progress or assignments. I will respond to email, calls, or notes as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for everything you do at home!
