Degrees and Certifications:
Hello everyone! My name is Kelley Gove and I am a fourth-grade teacher. I love teaching and I especially love teaching the children at Chief Joseph - Go Appaloosas! I am excited about the opportunity to get to know you and I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year.
I graduated from BSU in 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Literacy (K-12). This year I will begin working on my graduate certificate in Mathematical Thinking for Instruction. This is a two-year program at BSU that is focused on preparing and building the skills of teachers who are interested in coaching other teachers and becoming mathematics teacher leaders. I am very excited about how I can use this in my classroom to help my students!
This is my fourth year teaching at Chief Joseph, but I have been a part of the school since 2005. I feel like everyone here is part of my extended family. My children all went to this school! My oldest just graduated from BSU, my middle just graduated from MHS and will attend CWI, and my youngest is a junior at MHS.
This year we will be working on Learner Dispositions. These are characteristics or attitudes to learning that are life skills. Our school-wide dispositions are; perseverance, collaboration, questioning, create, self motivate and reflect.
I love to read, especially scary books or historical books. I enjoy sewing or needlecrafts, but I don't get much time for those. I have two dachshunds named Fargo and Lucy, and one black cat named Zelda. My favorite restaurants are Costa Vida or the Matador, yes I love Mexican food. I love plants of any kind. I am working on making my back yard a wonderful plant-filled oasis. I love to sit with my family enjoying our little fireplace and listening to the wind chimes.
It is going to be a great year!
