Elementary Education Degree (BYU) Music Minor

Mrs. Nicole Lyons

Hello! My name is Nicole Lyons. I have the wonderful opportunity to teach 1st grade at Willow Creek this year- a change for me, but an exciting one! Raised in Idaho (a Borah high graduate), I left for college to Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah.  I received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education while attending BYU.  After this, I began teaching 4th grade in Alpine, UT.  My husband got a job teaching at Eagle High School, so I returned to Idaho. Now he's moved to Meridian High School. I have had the pleasure of teaching a Willow Creek for four years now (time flies!), and I am looking forward to another great year!

Guess where I met my husband?!  We met on the track at BYU. Yes, running is a huge part of my life.  I’ve been devotedly running for 15 years now.  At college, I traveled all around the country competing because I was on the track and cross country teams.  After college, I caught the marathon bug. I have enjoyed running several marathons.  Some of my favorite include the Boston Marathon and my most recent one, the St. George Marathon.  I had an incredible experience running the race, and as a result of this race, I had the opportunity to visit Japan and run a race there as well. I stopped running competitively to help with my efforts in getting pregnant.  It wasn't an easy road, but miracles DO happen because my husband and I look forward to welcoming a little one into our home in January 2021!

Lastly, the lovely sound of a piano is something that I simply can’t get enough of.  I have a passion for music.  I began piano lessons in the 2nd grade and have played since then.  Growing up, throughout school, and still now, I enjoy accompanying soloists and small ensemble groups.  At BYU, I received a minor in music, and I have taught piano lessons since then.

Another school year is about to begin, and I excitedly look forward to getting to know your children while helping them become indepedent and develop a love for learning.
