Hello!! My name is Brittany Orr, formerly Brittany Haines but married my best friend this summer!
I am a Teacher of the Deaf! This year will be my 10th year teaching, 6th of which at Ponderosa!! I was born and raised here in Idaho and love this state. I received my Bachelor's degree from Boise State University in Early Childhood Education/Special Ed and I also participated in the Keith Stien Blue Thunder Marching Band, Go Broncos!!! I received my Master's degree in Deaf Education from Idaho State University. Prior to starting here at Ponderosa Elementary, I was an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher focusing on language development for students with special needs as well as a Habilitative Interventionist.
My journey into the field of Deaf Education started about 8 years ago, but I fell in love with American Sign Language (ASL) in High School and fell back in love with ASL during my undergraduate studies. As a Deaf individual, I felt a very personal connection to my Deaf students and desired to be able to be a role model to all students whether Deaf or hard of hearing. My goal for all my students is that they have all opportunities to pursue their dreams for their lives, achieve their goals and become independent. I feel very blessed and excited to be a part of this school as well as a part of each student's journey to accomplishing their dreams.
Hobbies: CrossFit, Olympic Lifting, time with family, lesson planning, and LEARNING!
