Ms. Christen Sapnas

I am excited to be teaching your child’s 7th grade Life Science & Zoology elective. I want your child (and you) to have an outstanding 2020 - 2021 year and I encourage you to contact me directly anytime. I know that this will be a time full of learning, not only for the students but for me as well!

This will be my fifth year teaching and sixth year with Heritage Middle School. I taught Life Science, Wildlife Biology, and Honors-Physical Science during my first year; since then I have been teaching Life Science and Zoology - so I am excited to continue improving our Life Science curriculum and the weird & fun material for Zoology that I get to create.

Currently, I am working on my M.S. in Science Education from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. I graduated in May 2016 from Boise State University with a B.S. in Biology and an emphasis in Secondary Education through their innovative IDoTeach program for STEM educators. At the university level I was a teaching assistant and tutor for biology and chemistry courses at BSU. Previously, I was so lucky to be an Outdoor Educator at MK Nature Center where I worked for 2 1/2 years.

I've taught 4-year olds to 40-year olds...
but middle-schoolers are the best.
7th graders are magical, little weirdos!

My husband and I live in Nampa with our pets: William the gopher snake (Pituophis catenifer deserticola), two huge 100+ gallon freshwater tanks, and Zuzu my Aussiedoodle puppy (Canis lupus familiaris). We geek out in our spare time with board games, trivia, and nerdy costuming & historical reenactment (SCA).
