Mrs. Amanda Arevalo
Hello! My name is Mrs. Arevalo (Uh-rev-uh-low) and I am so excited for my second year at Discovery Elementary. I can't wait to get to know you and your family this year. :)
This year I am working on getting our classroom supplies for a MakerSpace. This is a fun, engaging way for students to be able to get creative and practice problem-solving as they work on STEM activities. If you would like to contribute to this project through the West Ada Foundation and receive a Tax Credit, use this link! https://www.westada.org/Page/34167
If you have made your way down the 2-3 hallway, you may have noticed that my classroom furniture is a little different than what you may be used to. Last year I received two grants for Alternative or Flexible Seating, and we have lots of options for student work spaces! Our classroom has:
*Tall Stools *Bucket Seats *Wobble Stools
*Stability Balls *Folding Chairs *Bean Bags
*Floor Cushions *Traditional Chairs
I have loved having all these different options for students, because learning happens differently for each student. I have found that students are more aware of how and where they learn, and we work really hard at finding places that keep our bodies focused throughout the day. Students have given me really positive feedback on our seating, and I have enjoyed watching them communicate, problem-solve, work together, and self-monitor during independent work time with our work places.
This year is going to be great! I can't wait to meet you!
