Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jami Hernandez

I began my career with children in Missouri. While studying to achieve my Bachelors in Elementary Education, I was an active volunteer in the community and worked as a child care site director for a YMCA children’s program. Upon receiving my degree, I moved forward into a Kindergarten teaching position. At the same time, I also became employed by a local church to coordinate and manage their preschool ministry, birth to age 5.   While occupying all of these positions, I was personally responsible for developing programming and curriculum for the children, teaching necessary skills, as well as evaluating their individual needs.

Ten years ago, I transitioned away from my teaching career to begin a family of my own and considered raising my children a full time job during these years.  I am a mother to six amazing children, one of whom has a diagnosis of Autism.  The knowledge gained through my daughter’s experience inspired me to return to school and receive my Masters in Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in special education at the Boise State University. While working on my Master's, I taught at Boise State University Children's Center, and for the past three years, I have worked as a Develpmental Specialist for the Infant Toddler Program. My hearts passion is to work with children, help them grow and develop skills on their level.
