Degrees and Certifications:

Dr. Brandon Gallagher

For those families I have not yet met, I come to Joplin having worked at each level within public schools in two other states. Over the course of the past decade, I have served as a middle and high school principal in California, as well as an elementary principal in Hawaii. Having worked with students and families at each level has confirmed my love of helping students to discover their paths in life. What I hope to be able to instill in Joplin is a love for the process of learning, including the experience of not succeeding, figuring out why, then finding success. While the content of learning is always important, I place a high personal value on the quality of the experience of learning and the development of students into complete people who are ready to interact in a dynamic world. Elementary school is one of the most entertaining environments to do this because of the natural curiousity and sense of discovery that comes with children of this age range.

Aside from education, I love the outdoors and finding adventures across the world. I have traveled throughout our own country, as well as to dozens of other countries throughout our world. While I do spend some of that time in museums and buildings, I prefer to explore the open spaces in the places I visit. This has included backpacking in the mountains in Peru, Bolivia and Nepal, trekking through rainforests in Southeast Asia, and even running with my wife across Scotland. The move to Idaho is another adventure for our family and a return to Idaho for my wife, who graduated from Boise State University and has been a die hard Idaho lover since the day I met her. While Idaho does not have the sort of surfing I am used to, I have found a ton of open spaces to hike, run, fish, ski, and boat here. I look forward to learning more about the new state I live in with my wife and our two children, as well as learn more about the community I serve as the principal of Joplin Elementary.

As parents or community members, if you ever have a question or a need, please don't hesitate to stop by the school to talk to me. If school hours don't mesh up well with your schedule, please feel free to call or email me at any time.
