B.A. Elementary Education Literacy/Reading Specialist Endorsement

Mrs. Jacki Blackstone

I am so excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year!

This is my first year at Seven Oaks Elementary, and I couldn't love it more! Kindergarten is a very fun year with lots of growth, and lots of fun! I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, and I graduated Cum Laude (with honors). I hold a literacy endorsement, which allows me to work as a reading specialist/interventionist. I plan to get my graduate degree in STEM, concentrating on math. A little about me:

I am a Boise native, though I do enjoy to travel. I spent 4 months backpacking (well, okay, and taking the bus) around Israel in 2011. I am married, and I call my husband "The Scientist" because he is a physicist. We took a Caribbean cruise to Honduras, Grand Cayman, and Mexico for our honeymoon. I got to hold a bunch of Macaque monkies, including some babies. It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

My favorite thing in the entire world though, is theatre. Mostly I enjoy Shakespeare and most types of musical theatre. When I was a kid, I was a part of the Opera Idaho Children's Chorus. I have performed in operas such as Bizet's Carmen, Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, Puccini's La Boheme, and Orff's Carmina Burana. As an adult, I have been a member of the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale. You can pretty much count on finding me in the audience at every single show at Idaho Shakespeare Festival. One day I will make my way back to choir and theatre. In the meantime, I'll just keep belting out musical theatre numbers and Disney songs in my living room.

I am open for communication all the time - please e-mail me whenever you have a question or concern. I truly believe parents are partners in education, and your input is meaningful to me.

Cheers to a great year!
