Welcome 3rd Grade Families!
I am looking forward to meeting all of you soon! It is going to be a great year! We have a wonderful opportunity to embrace change and learn how to adapt, be flexible, expand our technology knkowledge, learn from our mistakes and learn from each other. We are going to have so much fun learning this year.
Just a little about me:
I was born and raised in Illinois and I am the youngest of three. I have an older sister who lives in Nevada and an older brother who lives in New Mexico. When I graduated from high school, I moved to Las Vegas, NV to start my college experience at UNLV. I graduated from "Home of the Running Rebels" in 1992. I majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I also received my master’s degree a few years later from Lesley College in Curriculum and Instruction: Creative Arts and Learning. I have had the privilege of working with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students throughout my 20 years of teaching.
My husband and I have been married for 15 years and have three beautiful children that keep us extremely busy with sports, hobbies, and a love for adventure. We moved here 5 years ago after spending many years moving around with the military. My husband, Dylan, and I always knew we wanted to move to Idaho when the time came to raise our family. I enjoy the outdoors, reading, playing sports, and exploring this gorgeous state.
Discovering new things is what I love about being a teacher! Everyday is a new day to learn from each other and use the knowledge we have to impact others. I believe strongly in helping students feel engaged in their learning and to support one another when new concepts seem difficult. Throughout the year, we will discuss having a growth mindset and how it helps us to learn. It is going to be a fabulous year!
It is important to keep communication open between us, and I would love to talk to you whenever you feel the need. Please feel free to email me if you need to discuss anything concerning your child. We can also set up an appointment to discuss concerns as well. Be aware that I may not be able to respond to you immediately, but I will try my best to reach out to you before and after school or during my planning time when I can. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.
