Bachelor of Arts Masters in Special Education
Welcome to Miss Laura's page! Let me tell you a little about myself. I am originally from Upstate New York and most of my family and long time friends live back east. I graduated from The State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany) many years ago, moved around the U.S., and ended up making a home in Boise, Idaho. I've been here for over 20 years now and raised two children as Idahoans. I have a young adult daughter and son and a dog named Titus.
I found my way into special education by chance. I started substitute teaching for extra income in 2007 and began to work in special education classrooms at all levels. I loved it! Before long, I was working every day. I ended up taking a permanent position in a Junior High School program and was fortunate enough to work for a great teacher who mentored me. I remained there for six years and decided to return to college to enter a Masters in Special Education program at Boise State University. Though I thought I wanted to remain at the Junior High level, I accepted a job in the Extended Resource Room at Chief Joseph which was a great decision. I absolutely love working with elementary level students and working at Chief Joseph. I have been here now for four years.
When I'm not teaching and planning, I'm thinking about my teaching and planning. However, I do enjoy being at home and working around my house and large yard. I also love to travel and have visited several countries with more to come. Music is important in my life as is having a great group of friends to laugh and cry with. When the weather is nice I ride my blue cruiser bike all around Boise. My motto is live well, laugh often, love much.
