Mrs. Kathy Graves

Hello and Welcome to GT!

I am the Gifted and Talented facilitator here at Star Middle School and teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade GT, English Language Arts. If you are not currently in this program but are interested, please contact me.  I would love to help you out.  If you have previously qualified for this program within the district, you are welcome--and encouraged-- to join us!
This is my eighth year as a GT facilitator, and my twelfth year teaching ELA. I am passonate about reading and stories and the importance of being able to communicate well. I am also certified as a Gifted and Talented teacher and absolutely LOVE this group of kids. I strive to provide a classroom environment in which they are challenged and engaged in their learning process.
The other thing I am passionate about is my family. My husband and I have been married for 24 years and I am mom to four kids, 14-year-old triplets who are freshmen this year and a 16-year-old junior who all attend Mountain View High School! In order to see my kids off to school in the morning, I am on a modified teaching contract and am not here for first period. This does mean that it is difficult to catch me in the mornings. However, I am here after school. The best way to reach me is always via email @ graves.kathy@westada.org.
Our classroom calendars are updated weekly and are the first place parents and students should look for questions related to classwork.
