Out sick or on quarantine? See note below. . .

Unfortunately we are still dealing with COVID. If you are out due to illness or quarantine, please let me know. If I know I have students out, I will record class instruction in Teams. Feel free to join us live during your class period or watch the recording when you can. All meetings will be in the "Recorded Lessons" channel, and all recordings will post to this channel as well. I will also link any necessary class materials to the recording so you have access. Please make sure you check the agenda in Teams or on my website so you know exactly what we are doing and what is due. If paper work is collected in class rather than assigned and collected digitally through Teams, just email me a copy of your completed assignment.  Any questions? Use our virtual office channel or email me.

Mrs. Kathy Graves

Hello and Welcome to GT!

I am the Gifted and Talented facilitator here at Star Middle School and teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade GT, English Language Arts. I also teach Honors English 8. If you are not currently in our GT program but are interested, please contact me.  I would love to help you out.  If you have previously qualified for this program within the district, you are welcome--and encouraged-- to join us!
This is my 10th year as a GT facilitator, and my 14th year teaching ELA. I am passonate about reading and stories and the importance of being able to communicate well. I am also certified as a Gifted and Talented teacher and absolutely LOVE this group of kids. I strive to provide a classroom environment in which they are challenged and engaged in their learning process.
The other thing I am passionate about is my family. My husband and I have been married for 26 years and I am mom to four kids, 16-year-old triplets who are juniors this year at Mountain View High School and a daughter in her first year at the University of Idaho! In order to see my kids off to school in the morning, I am on a modified teaching contract and am not here for first period. This does mean that it is difficult to catch me in the mornings. However, I am here after school. The best way to reach me is always via email @ graves.kathy@westada.org.
