I have been working in special education for 28 years and in 5 different states.  I have had practice and learning experiences in publlic school systems, non-profit organizations, private supports and the government medicaid system.  For me, the classroom is special. It is a place where I feel like I am part of a larger "Tribe" or "Family".  My personal philosophy is that the most effective growth and development for any child comes from a collaboration between the home, the school and the community.  Our classroom team strives for this daily.

My husband and I moved around following our professional goals for many years.  We had fun doing that and believed it was how we would live until retirement.  When we landed in the Treasure Valley we quickly realized that this was a place we didn't want to leave any time soon.  Thirteen years later, we are still here and love hiking, fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, camping, going to great music events, skiing, bird watching and more.  We are enjoying a life of opportunities that, before moving here, we did not know could exist in one place.  We have three dogs and one autocratic cat.  We love the area and are very happy to be here.

I am grateful to the family members of my students and to my River Valley colleagues for allowing me to be part of this new experience.

Education is a journey, not a destination.
