Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Carrie Cutlip
Hello Star Students and Families,
My name is Mrs. Carrie Cutlip and I have been teaching for 14 years, 12 of which have been at the middle school level. I am currently teaching Gifted and Talented 6th grade World (Ancient) Civilizations, 6th grade World Civilizations, and English Language Arts (Literature and Writing) for 7th grade.
I was raised in a town called Visalia, in California, just west of Sequoia National Park. Visalia is surrounded by citrus, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, corn, lettuce, cotton, onions, tomatoes, garlic, alfalfa, hay, grapes, olives, kiwi, peaches, nectarines, cherries, strawberries, and plums. In addition, there were many dairies and cattle ranches outside of town. I know, it is a lot of agriculture, and I may have gone a little overboard there, with my examples. When my twin sister and I were growing up, our family owned an irrigation manufacturing company, making sluice gates, valves, actuators, lifts, etc. One of the sales offices was in Boise, thus the Idaho connection. Little by little, our family has made their way to the Treasure Valley over the past several years. My sister lives in Eagle with her husband and two kids, my parents live in Meridian, as well as my Aunt and Uncle. One of my cousins currently lives in Nampa, and my Dad's cousin lives in Nyssa, Oregon (45 minutes away).
I have my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California and a Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with Cross Cultural Language and Academic Development emphasis. I also hold a Subject Matter Authorization in Social Studies for grades 6-9. I currently hold Teaching Credentials in both California and Idaho.
I have been married to my husband Troy for 18 years, and we have two teenage sons. Caden is 16 and Ryder is 14. We also have a son, Cole, who passed away when he was two months old. If he had lived, he would have been 15 today. We believe that we will see him again in Heaven. I love to travel and to read, (preferably around a fire pit in the mountains, while making smores). I also love watching all of my sons' sporting events, including Baseball, Waterpolo, and Golf. One of my passions is our Great Nation and the Constitution of the United States. I taught US History including the Revolutionary War, Founding of our Nation, The Constitution, Bill of Rights, War of 1812, The Civil War, Reconstruction, and Responsibilities of Citizens. I enjoy drinking coffee, while reading my Kindle. Spending time with my husband and boys along the Boise River brings me great joy. My favorite quote is "Nothing can dim the light which shines from within."-Maya Angelou
I am looking forward to an amazing year with students! You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Go Star Cowboys!
