Welcome! I am one of the 6th grade English Language Arts teachers at Eagle Middle School for the 2019- 2020 school year. It is my pleasure to work alongside Marcy Pishl, Trina Hallenberger, and Tana Jons to meet the ELA needs of our 6th graders.
Previously, I spent 12 years teaching Special Education here at Eagle Middle School and love working with the administrators, staff and students here at EMS! I transitioned to 6th grade ELA last school year and have found my passion! I graduated from BSU in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Elementary Education (with endorsements in Special Education: mild to moderate and severe to profound).
This year I am excited to teach an advisory class and three periods each of Literature and Strategies and Writing Composition. Advisory is a twenty-minute daily meeting time for students and their teachers. Advisory serves as a home base for students, offering them the opportunity to develop personal, social, academic, and study skills that will help them make a successful transition from an elementary to a middle school setting. Literature and Strategies assignments focus on first reads, close reads, analyzing the text and analyzing craft and structure. Students will read selections of different genres, including multi-media. Writing Composition assignments focus on language development, including: concept vocabulary, word study, and conventions, and effective expression, including: writing to sources, speaking and listening.
