Ms. Jennifer Livesey

Hello there,

I feel very excited and lucky to be part of the great community at Victory!  There is such a lovely feeling of positivity and authenticity among everyone I’ve met so far.  Although it is not my first year teaching middle school English/Language Arts, I have been out of the field for quite a while and so many things (ahem, the technology…) have changed quite a bit (certainly for the better!).  What has remained the same is the awe-inspiring capacity for learning and growing that middle school students have which makes being a teacher the best job in the world. I have lived all up and down the West Coast and have been in Boise for a little over a year; I can now safely say it is one of my favorite places.  When I am not working I love to read, bake and imagine I’m practicing to be on the Great British Bake Off, hike, find new places to see and new coffee to drink, and hang out with my family.

Some of my all-time favorite books:

Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger, the Harry Potter series, the Wrinkle in Time series (really anything by Madeleine L’Engle), Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson, East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Wildwood by Colin Meloy, and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.

Some of the best books I’ve read this year (so far):

The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson, Being Mortal by Atul Gawande,  Puddin’ by Julie Murphy, Smile and Ghosts by Raina Telgemeier, and the Monk of Mokha by Dave Eggers.

The class calendars on this site are updated frequently and below you will soon be able to find links to the daily PowerPoint agendas for each grade level.  Please write or phone with any questions; I would love to hear from you!
