Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Megan Etcheson
Hello and welcome to a new school year! It is going to be a FABULOUS year! I wanted to write and introduce myself. My name is Megan Etcheson, I am looking forward to teaching your kiddos World Geography class. Geography will be filled with excitement, challenges, and lots of learning. I have had the pleasure of teaching Geography the past 3 years at Pathways Middle School and I am super excited to be at Meridian Middle School, this year!
If you would like to know a bit of my background… I grew-up in the suburbs of Tucson, Arizona, Reno, Nevada and Meridian, Idaho. I went to Boise State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies and Secondary Education. GO BRONCOS! I lived in Sicily, Italy and traveled to Japan, Ireland, France and Egypt while working on my degree. I knew if I wanted to teach about the world, I needed to see it firsthand. My passion for World Geo. stems from those amazing trips.
World Geography is a semester long class. We have a large amount of curriculum to cover, but we will have a great time and make new connections to the world around us. Our class is broken into three units: Tools of Geography, Physical Geography, and Human Geography. Your students will be constructing Interactive Notebooks for each of the three units. Each IN will include a learning map, vocabulary, notes, experiments and activities. The learning maps will double as a study guide for their unit exams. They will have 3 exams over the semester. I will send updates on upcoming exams, if you would like to help your student prepare for them. The interactive notebook will live in my classroom, unless they are checked out by your student or when they are preparing for their unit exams. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me using the information below.
