Mrs. Kristine Rose

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year and 7th Grade Language Arts!

I am thrilled to be teaching here at Meridian Middle School! This is my first year here at MMS and The West Ada School District!

I have been teaching sixth grade at the elementary level, the last twenty years in the Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District in Yorba Linda, California. I recieved my B.A. from CSUSB, my teaching credential from University of Redlands, and my M.A.E. from Chapman University in Orange, Ca. with an emphasis in Curriculum & Instruction, with a specialization in reading instruction. I have two grown children; my daughter works for Amazon and my son is studying Aeronautical Science/Flight at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ. In addition, my husband and I have four dogs, we love to 4WD in our Bronco and explore all the old mining roads Idaho has to offer! We also love to camp, fish, ride our ATVS, snowmobile, and ski in the winter. Living in Idaho has been a lifelong dream of mine, as I have been visiting this beautiful state my whole life, mainly in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

I look forward to teaching our amazing 7th graders language arts curriculum. Our program consists of reading rich literature and its elements, writing, vocabulary development, and grammar. Novels and our district anthology will be integrated throughout the school year. In addition, I will be teaching Latin/Greek roots, also known as word parts every week, as this is crucial to my students' writing and vocabulary development. I encourage my students to "always try their best," regardess of ability or background. I have spent many years in the classroom and I have a "firm and flexible" approach to teaching. I hold my students at the highest respect and I expect that in return. I build MMS "P.R.I.D.E." into my daily routine in the classroom and I feel that character building is just as important as delivering the curriculum to my students. My passion is kids and always what is best for kids, inside and outside of my classroom! I look forward to a great year!
