Mrs. Kelly

Hi! My name is Courtney Kelly.  This is my first year teaching 4th grade at Desert Sage Elementary and my fifth year at Desert Sage. Fun fact: I did my student teaching in 4th grade here at Desert Sage!  I started out as a paraprofessional and after my student teaching was hired to work with K-3 students as the Extended Reading Interventionist.  I have worked in the Education field for 7 years. I graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  I also have an endorsement (area of focus K-8) in Science.

I am so excited to be teaching 4th grade this year.  I cannot wait to help your student in their learning journey. There are so many amazing and fun things we get to learn about in 4th grade that make each day new and exciting. To top it off, we have an incredible team of teachers who are passionate and dedicated to helping every single one of our students succeed.

My husband and I have been married for 6 years.  While my husband has lived in Idaho his whole life, I have not.  I was born in Yap, Micronesia and was raised in West Africa.  I have lived all over the world, but moved back to the United States to attend high school and college.  I enjoy learning about new cultures, as well as incorporating different backgrounds and cultures into our learning environment.  I believe it is so important that every child embrace who they are and share what makes them unique with the world around them.

When we are not working or traveling, my husband and I enjoy spending time together outdoors.  My husband is a photo journalist studying at BSU as well as an alpine guide, which means he guides people up mountains.  Our favorite things to do together are rock climbing, backpacking and paddle boarding. I also enjoy reading and spending time with our niece.
