Mrs. Shari Setter

I am excited to be back at Barbara Morgan STEM Academy this year, even if it is only 1/2 time.  I will spend my afternoons at BMSA and my mornings supporting the Deaf/Hard of Hearing program at Ponderosa Elementary School.

I am passionate about working with students who struggle to learn.   My life experience prior to becoming a teacher was deeply involved with children with special needs.  I grew up with a profoundly deaf brother, and I have two sons with Autism and a daughter with a cognitive impairment.

Several years ago, I returned to school to become a teacher.  As I was finishing my K-8 courses, I was offerred the opportunity to transfer into the special education program.  I jumped at the chance.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwest Nazarene University in 2013 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education.  I completed my Master's Degree in Elementary Reading and Math from Walden University in December, 2015.

I am married and have 5 adult children, 2 sons and 3 daughters.  My husband and I are active members in our church family and enjoy helping with Challenger Baseball. We recently became involved with Special Olympics Idaho and are trying to restart the local TOPSoccer program.

Due to my schedule, it is best to contact me via email at setter.shari@westada.org
