Mrs. Katie Baranco
Welcome to another year of preschool!!!
I am excited to be at Meridian Elementary and to have the privilege of being your child’s Preschool Teacher this year. I want your child to have an exciting, fun, and successful year.
I am a third generation Idaho native and have lived all over the state. In May 2008, I graduated from the University of Idaho in Early Child Development and Special Education. This will be my 10th year teaching in the Early Childhood Special Education classroom for West Ada District, though my first year at Meridian Elementary. I am an avid reader of all different types of books. I also love outdoor activities, especially wakeboarding, waterskiing, and backpacking. In the summer, you can often find me either on the lake or in the pool teaching swimming lessons.
I have been married for 5 years and have two wonderful daughters (2 and under a year).
I believe that all children have the right and ability to be successful in the classroom. In order for all children to succeed, my classroom will be a supportive and encouraging environment. Children learn at different stages and have many different types of learning styles, and my role in the process of each child’s education is to help facilitate that learning. My teaching style, curriculum, and approach will be flexible, varied, and individual in order to meet each child’s needs in the classroom. It is my responsibility to provide a fun, safe, and exciting environment in order to foster students’ learning. The classroom will be set up so that each child in my class can enhance their own development by being active contributors, learners, and guides to the learning process. Above all, I will provide your child with multiple learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.
