I love teaching first grade, because it is so exciting to see my students learn and grow into independent learners! It is like watching a flower open to the sun. Children have so much personality and many interests at this age, and in 1st grade they get to learn how to access more information about our world and things they love!

I started teaching 1st grade in the West Ada School District many years ago, when my oldest son was in 2nd grade at Spalding Elementary. That was the first year Spalding opened. Now, he has a daughter in 3rd grade and a son in 1st grade at Spalding! Life is coming full circle for me. I am also a mom of a 1st grade student here in Virtual School House, as well.

I graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. I have experience teaching grades 5, 2, 1 and Kindergarten. My first teaching experience was in a small private school in Pocatello. I have 8 years of experience in private education, and 20 years experience teaching in public schools. Most of my teaching experience has been in this district, but I have also worked in the Kuna School District, at the State Department of Education, and worked in a private school in Lacey, Washington, where I taught a Jr. Kindergarten class for two years. So now I have come full circle back to West Ada myself. My last two amazing years were spent in kindergarten at River Valley Elementary.

Between my husband and I we have 8 grown children with Brayden following up as number 9. We enjoy spending time with family gardening, biking, swimming and playing frisbee golf! We also have 10 grandchildren that keep us busy. There is nothing better than spending time with children. They constantly amaze me. I love my students like my own- they become part of my big family each year!

I am excited about this new adventure in “Virtual Learning”, and I am glad to be doing it at VSH with such awesome staff members, students, and their families!
