Ms. Maureen Parry Elia BSN RN NCSN
Welcome to the Desert Sage Health Office page! My name is Maureen Parry Elia and I have had the privilege of being the School Nurse at Desert Sage since 2014. I am a Registered Nurse, licensed in our great state of Idaho in 2011. I graduated from Idaho State University with my BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) in 2011. I also am a Nationally Certified School Nurse. Prior to coming to West Ada School District, I worked at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center as a "float nurse", which allowed me to be trained and provide RN service and care to nearly all of the departments in the St. Luke's Meridian and Boise hospitals. Working on the Pediatric units was my favorite assignment, and I am thrilled that as a School Nurse I can now be on the front end of health care for children. My goal is to not only treat the students' urgent issues and manage chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes, but to teach them how to advocate for their own health and make good decisions that will help them live long, healthy lives and be successful in all of their learning endeavors.
I graduated from Gonzaga University in 1984 with a BS (Bachelor of Science) in Economics/Accounting, and worked for many years as a Certified Public Accountant. I also worked for many years as a Landscape Designer--I am just a life-long learner and hope to instill that curiosity in the students I serve.
I grew up in Spokane, Washington, but have lived in Boise since 1994. I have three wonderful sons, aged 23, 22, and 17. I have a great border collie who likes to run with me daily. My other hobbies include biking, gardening, sewing and reading.
