Please join us in welcoming our new swim coach, Andrea Thiltgen. We are thrilled to have such an accomplished and enthusiastic new coach to direct our swim program.
Andrea “Dre” Thiltgen is a former Elementary Classroom Teacher and YMCA Youth Leader. She currently works at a local Albertsons in the Produce Department. After spending half a decade in her hometown of San Diego, working at a surf camp and teaching 3rd & 6th grade, she has returned to Boise to explore the gorgeous state and pursue her long term goal of serving the community through the Emergency Medical/Fire Services. Dre believes in the importance of athletics, meaningful relationships, and understands the dedication required to be a successful student-athlete.
From 2007-2011, Dre played an integral role as a founding team-member of the emerging Boise State University Swim & Dive Team. Upon graduation, she returned to San Diego to complete her California Teaching certification. Instead, she found herself at YMCA Camp Surf where she trained in Ocean Lifeguarding, leadership development, outdoor education & curriculum implementation. Eventually, she found herself emerging as a classroom teacher at Innovations Academy in the San Diego Unified School District.
She is looking forward to creating an inclusive, competitive, and memorable swimming experience at Meridian High School.
Andrea holds a BA in Elementary Education from Boise State University and is a nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician.
