Welcome to 4th Grade!

My name is Lauren Osborne and I will be your child's 4th grade teacher this year.  I am so excited to start my seventh year of teaching and my second year at Desert Sage!  Throughout the school year, and through this new experience of teaching and learning, I hope to create an environment of growing knowledge and independent learning.  4th grade is an important year for your child and I am looking forward to working together toward a successful year.

I can't wait to get to know you and your child.  Here is some information to help you get to know me. I am 29 years old and was born and raised in Boise. I attended college at University of Idaho (Go, Vandals!) where I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to teaching at Desert Sage, I worked in the Boise School District where I taught a 2nd/3rd grade combo class. I have also taught in the Middleton School District as a 3rd grade teacher. During the summer of 2015, I packed up my life in Boise and moved to the Seattle area where I enjoyed two years of living in a big city and teaching 3rd grade at Sunny Hills Elementary in Issaquah.  From there, I moved to Spokane and taught for two years in a 3rd grade and 2nd/3rd grade combo class.  Exploring the Pacific Northwest was great and so much fun, but I am happy to be settled back in Boise!

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. I have a love for learning that I hope to share with my students each year. Outside of the classroom, I have other hobbies that I am passionate about as well. I love hiking, riding my road bike, running, spending time with my dog, reading and playing board games. My family is very important to me, so spending time with them each week is always something I enjoy.

This year will be a great year, but in every school year, things can and will come up. I believe that a successful year starts with an open communication line between teachers and families. Together, along with your child's hard work, we can achieve incredible academic success. If any questions or concerns arise, please feel free to contact me via email or phone call. We're going to have a wonderful year!
