Spalding Community Garden

The Spalding Community Garden was developed to involve students in growing vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs. Teachers have the opportunity to integrate life science curriculum into an outdoor educational experience. Each grade level is assigned two garden boxes each year. They are responsible for planting, weeding, harvesting, and regular maintenance.

The Garden Club is an after school program for students in grades 3-5. Students must apply and have permission from parents to participate in this program. Throughout the school year, students learn about different aspects of the garden. Topics club members learn about include: preparing fruits and vegetables to eat, composting, seed collecting and how to prepare boxes for a growing season.
