Plant Science Pathway

  • The Plant Science program allows students to explore the wonderful world of agriculture life!  This pathway of courses provides students with hands-on learning and training in a greenhouse environment.  Through an engaging course curriculum, students learn about irrigation, soils, plant life and structures, plant reproduction and propagation, and greenhouse management.

During the spring, students will have an opportunity to take part in a school greenhouse sale, where they will grow and sell plants and flowers.  Greenhouse sales are open to the community and raise funds for the student FFA.

    Pathway Course Sequence:

Not-So-Small Engines

  • tractor

The term 'small engines' can be misleading since the size of an engine is relative.  In the agriculture industry, the term is used to refer to gas-powered engines that produce less than 25 horsepower (hp).  The term 'outdoor power equipment' refers to the type of equipment that is powered by small gasoline engines.

CTE Center- Meridian Campus

  • The Plant Science program creates an unique academic experience for students in the pathway.  Students will travel to CTE Center- Meridian Campus for their 12th grade course to utilize the plant science greenhouse.

This center is located on the Meridian High School campus, in Meridian, Idaho.  It is a state of the art technical center, which houses the West Ada School District's auto, collision, diesel, early childhood education, welding, plant sciences and small gas engine pathways.
