Celebrating 15 years of excellence!
Academic Decathlon is a nationwide organization that promotes student achievement through academics and social interaction. Meridian High School’s modern program is entering its 15 year anniversary during the 2018-2019 school year.
Academic Decathlon is a knowledge and skill competition that tests students’ abilities in public speaking, written communication, and academic ability. Any student can participate, GPA is not a prerequisite for membership. Academic Decathlon is a team that reinforces the subjects students already study in class. Additionally, year after year, the students that join the team find that the work they put into the competition promotes higher achievement in the classroom. The Meridian High team has placed in the top three 12 out of the last 15 years, with numerous individual medals won as well. Students’ build lasting friendships and make connections that serve them well for a lifetime. They are exposed to topics and skills that help to shape them into high achieving adults that value knowledge, learning, and team work.
