Mr. Barro

Josh Barro is a music educator and trombonist in the Treasure Valley. Mr. Barro earned his B.M. in Music Education from Boise State University. His primary focus is on music education K-12 but loves to perform on the trombone.

Currently, Mr. Barro is an active freelance musician and private instructor. During his time at Boise State, he studied trombone with Dr. David Mathie and Dr. Sarah Paradis. He performed in numerous ensembles including Symphonic Winds, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Trombone Choir, Blue Thunder Marching Band, Brass Quintet and All-Campus Concert Band. He has also performed with Opera Idaho, the Hymns of Thanksgiving Orchestra, and the Living Christmas Tree Orchestra (Nampa).

Prior to teaching here at Star Middle School, he taught 5-8 band and K-5 general music at Galileo STEM Academy and Pioneer School of the Arts. Mr. Barro has also been maintaining a trombone and euphonium studio since 2012.

Alongside his day-to-day duties, Mr. Barro coaches football, 8th grade boys basketball, and track (long jump and triple jump) here at Star Middle. He is also one of the assistant directors for the Eagle High School Thundering Mustang Band.

During his free time, Mr. Barro enjoys photography, basketball, and traveling with his wife. Mr. Barro is a member of the International Trombone Association and National Association for Music Education.
