April 20, 2017 – Two West Ada School District students will perform alongside the Meridian Symphony on Saturday, April 22 at the Centennial High School Performing Arts Center. This special Rising Stars concert highlights talented young musicians in the Treasure Valley.

Four students, of the nearly 20 whom competed in the 2017 Young Artists Competition, were chosen to perform solos in this concert.

Christian Nielsen, a student at Idaho Fine Arts Academy (IFAA), has played the piano for eight years. He is the accompanist for the middle and senior high school choir at IFAA, and plays with the chamber music program. Nielsen will play Prokofiev’s challenging Concerto No. 1 in D-flat Major at the Rising Stars concert.

Centennial High School student Julia Caven began her musical career by playing the violin before switching to the viola. She performs in the Centennial High School Orchestra and with the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Caven will perform the first movement of Bloch’s Suite Hébraïque for viola and orchestra at the Rising Stars concert.
