Board Approves Elementary Attendance Area Proposal

map of school boundaries in West Ada April 10, 2019 - The Board of Trustees approved the attendance area proposal developed by a group of parents who volunteered to serve on the attendance area committee.  The proposal creates a new attendance area for Pleasant View Elementary.  In addition, changes were made to reduce overcrowding at both Hunter and Prospect Elementary schools.

The action taken by the Board of Trustees also places a cap on enrollment at Hunter Elementary.  Students who move into the Hunter attendance area for the remainder of this year and during the 2019-2020 school year will be reassigned to Paramount Elementary for one year until Pleasant View Elementary School opens for the fall of 2020.  Students who move into the portion of the Hunter attendance area that will be part of the Ponderosa Elementary attendance area starting for fall 2020 will be reassigned to Ponderosa.  Parents of incoming kindergarten students in this area may choose to either attend Hunter for the 2019-2020 school year or start at Ponderosa for fall 2019.

The Board of Trustees also discussed the committee's recommendation that West Ada School District run a bond in March of 2020 that will include an elementary school south of I-84 in response to the committee's inability to create an attendance area proposal that relieved overcrowding in schools south of the freeway.
