Class of 2020 Blended Virtual and In-Person Graduation Celebration

Graduation Speaker Recorded on Video Camera May 18, 2020 – High school principals are excited about the plan to celebrate this year’s seniors. Using a platform provided by the Idaho Press and Capital Educators Credit Union, graduation ceremonies are hosted June 6 with an online graduation ceremony and in-person celebration.

The online graduation ceremony starts with an introduction and address from the high school’s principal. Then students, chosen by their peers as senior representatives, share their speeches. Superintendent Mary Ann Ranells confers the rights and privileges earned from graduating high school to West Ada School District seniors. And finally, the names of the graduating class are announced along with the picture of each graduate. The ceremony is available to view anywhere with internet access. The graduates’ pictures are displayed on the online platform along with a brief profile. These profiles are printed by Idaho Press in a keepsake program for the kids.

After the online event, families and students are invited to drive to their schools where teachers, staff and principals greet them and celebrate their success. Students receive their diplomas and keepsake programs during this time.

This blended graduation replaces events West Ada School District had scheduled in July.
