Athletic Competition Starts September 2, Attendance Limited Per Operation Category

September 1, 2020 – West Ada School District’s Board of Trustees discussed the fall sports plan, page 10 of the district’s Fall Reopening Plan, during a special meeting September 1. Games scheduled for September 2 will go on with attendance limited to participants, coaches and essential personnel as the district is currently operating in the red category.

The fall sports plan incorporates guidelines outlined by the Idaho High School Activities Association, Central District Health and the State of Idaho.

“I understand that parents want to be there,” shared Jason Warr, activities director. “But I want our kids out there, that’s my priority.”

Warr also shared that the district educates children every day, and that participating in activities is a privilege. Following these guidelines is necessary so children can continue to participate in extracurricular activities.

Based on Central District Health recommendations, West Ada School District will allow the following individuals into games.

  • Green Category: The total number of all bodies in the building shall be no more than 28 percent of the facility’s maximum capacity.
  • Yellow Category: Participants; coaches; essential personnel including game officials, medical staff, event staff and security; and parents.
  • Red Category: Participants; coaches; essential personnel including game officials, medical staff, event staff and security.
