Staying Home from School with COVID-like Symptoms

October 14, 2020 - Following the illness decision tree guidelines set out by Central District Health when operating in the red category, if a student is sent home with COVID-like symptoms such as fever of 100.4 or higher, loss of smell or taste, chills, new or unusual headache, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, cough, muscle aches, sore throat, shortness of breath, fatigue, congestion/runny nose, or you keep your child at home with symptoms, the following three are the only options for returning to in-person learning.

  1. Follow up with your health care provider and get a note verifying an alternative diagnosis
  2. Receive a negative test for COVID-19 accompanied by a note verifying safe return to school
  3. Stay at home for 10 days following the start of symptoms
