Meet the New School Board Trustees for Zones 3 and 4
Sheena Buffi, Zone 3 Trustee
Sheena Buffi is the Human Resources Program Manager for compensation, classification and recruitment at the Idaho Division of Human Resources. She holds a master’s degree in HR Management and is a certified workplace mediator. She serves on her HOA Board as Treasurer and the National Compensation Association of State Governments as Secretary.
Before relocating to her husband’s hometown of Boise in 2016, Sheena worked as the HR Director of a K-12 school district in Nevada. In this role, she served as the district’s Title IX Coordinator, workplace investigator, and lead negotiator where she worked diligently to strengthen relations with three bargaining groups. Sheena also served as a civilian EEO Counselor for the Marine Corps while living in Okinawa, Japan for six years.
Sheena and her husband have four children, a sophomore at BSU’s Honors College, an 8th grader at Lowell Scott Middle School, and a 3rd and 4th grader at Frontier Elementary School. And five pets: two Sphynx (hairless cats), an English Bulldog, an Austrian Shepherd, and a goldfish. The goldfish was snuck into their home after their daughter, a sophomore at Centennial High School at the time, was told not to bring her biology project home…
Rusty Coffelt, Zone 4 Trustee
Rusty Coffelt served in the fire service for 33 years. In April 2020 he retired from his role as Fire Chief for the Eagle Fire Protection District after serving in that position for three years. Prior to joining the Eagle Fire Protection District, he spent 30 years with Anaheim Fire & Rescue in California where he retired as a Deputy Chief.
During his fire service career, he served as a Paramedic, Hazardous Materials Technician, and member of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) California Task Force 5 Urban Search and Rescue Team. He was an Adjunct Instructor in the Fire Technology Department at Santa Ana College teaching both in the classroom as well as in the Fire Academy. He is a Certified Chief Fire Officer through California State Fire Training, has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Upon joining the Idaho Fire service, Coffelt taught in the Treasure Valley Officer Development Program, served as Vice-President of Operations for the Idaho Fire Chiefs Association, served as Board Trustee for the Idaho Independent Intergovernmental Authority and as Chairman for the Ada County/City EMS Service Administrative Committee. In August 2020, he was appointed by the Eagle City Council to serve as a Commissioner on the Eagle Urban Renewal Agency.
He and his wife Wendy and have been married for 33 years in April. They attend Rock Harbor Church in Meridian and have been enjoying all the activities Idaho has to offer from riding bikes on the greenbelt and floating the Boise River, to snowmobiling and camping in our new travel trailer. They have two adult children who still live and work in California. Their daughter is married and works as a nurse, and their son works in sales after playing lacrosse in college.
